Bruce - Population Health and a capitated care contract between an insurance company and a healthcare system certainly makes sense in that the healthcare system keeps more of the per capita payment they receive if the population is in fact healthier overall. Larger health systems can leverage this into, I believe, significant profits. Certainly outcomes will continue to be a driver from CMS, but in the private insurance sector, with capitated contracts, I can see the potential for big profits for big health systems leveraging "population health" information. As always, I continue to enjoy reading your blog posts, keep up the good work!
