You're right that doctors view IT systems, like EMRs, as less productive than engineers would. The big difference is that doctors see as many as 20-30 patients per day, so they don't have the time for data entry that an engineer working on a longer project would. That said, there are a few companies working on the EMR scribe dilemma (Microsoft/nVoq comes to mind) who are offering voice recognition software. It'll be interesting to see where that goes. . .
