Assuming fruits and vegetables are cheaper than they were, they're still relatively expensive, which is why many people opt for cheaper but less healthy foods. If we subsidized fruits and vegetables like we do corn (let's not even get into what that is doing to us), healthy food would be a lot cheaper and the proportion of it that people ate would be much higher.
